Recipes by an 11 year old: MILK

I keeping with my last post:

Take one 11 (for another week) year old. Add a desire to bring milk to school (in an old water bottle). Put in bag in locker and then forget to bring bag home. Works overnight, better over weekend, but best if left over a week long winter vacation. Open locker, freak out about smell.

Find out the lid was not properly screwed on. Spill on self, coat, notebooks, and anything else possible. Have nurse call mother to bring up new clothes. Have mother gag when she smells the clothes. Have typical 6th grade boy call you "milk girl" the rest of the day.

Have mother consider sending you to school with a small Tupperware full of baking soda to help absorb rotten smell lingering in locker, but realize that bringing unidentifiable white powder to keep in a locker might not be the best idea. Put car freshener on shopping list instead.

How was your yesterday morning?

  1. Thank you for the laugh! And I really thought that once the baby was finally done spitting up, I wouldn't have to smell sour milk again...

  2. Oh gag. Poor Elise! Hopefully that boy forgets. I never would have thought about the baking soda being mistaken for something else. Good idea on holding that one back.
And I am so sorry about your microwave!
I guess, on the bright side, at least your kids are learning independence and are doing things on their own. :) I want to ask about the legos, but am very afraid.....

  3. Oh that is just awful. Poor Elise. Poor Charlotte. On the bright side, sending her to school with white powder would probably make the milk girl nickname go away....

  4. Oh Elise. I'm sorry for you the mom who has to wash that stuff. Yuck.

  5. And you forgot:

Immediately throw away everything touching the rotten milk. Washing is too much hassle and induces more sickness.

I can't wait until this doesn't happen to me.....

  6. Gross. That is totally gross. I've found a couple of bottles like that in my car before and was ever so grateful that I used disposable liners.

  7. Too funny!

When I was in high school, our German teacher had us write these skits about a restaurant. We decided to be clever and have the skit culminate in people throwing whipped cream pies. It was really clever. Until we realized that we had German second period. And though we had all brought changes of clothes, none of us had considered what to do with the whipped cream in our hair. We realized this around lunchtime. Yeah. It was a really gross, stinky day!

Hope Elise's locker airs out quickly!

  10. Ohhhh! How sad. We had spilled milk in our car one summer, and though we shampooed and cleaned the best we could, the smell lasted for several months. Gross!

  11. Rotten milk is the WORST smell. If I can't identify how old a sippy cup is that has milk in it, I just chuck it instead of opening it a smelling it.
